Pakito Baeza biography - Dj Agency

Pakito Baeza studies percussion with Armando García Perez (Armandito), Lecturer of ‘Ignacio Cervantes’ (Cuba) back in 1990.

He specializes and record in Spain with flamenco and jazz artists like Jorge Pardo, Rubem Dantas, Ximo Tebar, Mingo D’acosta, Lou Bennet or Paco de Lucía.

He travels with Dance company ‘Narciso Medina de Cuba’ and dancer Lino Zorrilla as well as with Compay Segundo, Raul Tórres, Marta Campos (Trova Cubana), Manu Tenorio (OT) or Safri Duo (Dance Music).

In 1996 he begins to teach latin percussion in Alicante’s University, activity which he still does today.

He studies at ‘Percuba’ (Cuba) with Roberto Viscaino and Pedro Vega and in ‘Berklee College of Music’ (USA) with Giovanni Hidalgo (playing with him in Madrid), Horacio ‘El Negro’ and Walferdo de los Reyes.

He plays with Mike P. Mossmann, Brad Meldhau, Chuck Silverman, Deborah Carter or Bruce Barth in Spain (V Festival Internacional de Latin Jazz, Cullera).

Nowadays he is teaching clinics and master classes as LP artist in different cities of Spain. Also he records and plays live with Dj’s and dance music producers as Dj Chus, Ceballos, David Penn, Melero, Pippi and Luis López).

In February 2008 he prepares the recording of his second LP and also gigs with the band ‘Rubem Dantas Group’ (Paco de Lucía).

In January 2007 American company ‘Latin Percussion’ awards him with ‘The World’s Best Percussionist’ award.

In March 2008 he is preparing a tour with ‘Heineken Live Music’.
